Easter Strategies

Cru Weekly Ministry Tip, Spring 2012, #10

Here are the lyrics of a song written by one of the music leaders at my home church, Paulo Clayton. It captures a change the gospel makes in someone’s life as well as the reason for Christ’s death on the cross:

What a great day when You washed our sin away…
Redeemed each man & woman from their fall…
What a great day when all our lives were saved…
You’ve shown us we are worth it all…
Oh Jesus, we are worth it all!

Jesus says to us, “We are worth it all!” He came to this earth, born of a virgin, lived a life of complete submission to the will of the Father, and gave up His life on the cross for us. It is a great day because of what He has done in bringing us from death to life because of His sacrifice. Romans 5:8 says, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

When Jesus appeared to His disciples after the resurrection, they were startled and frightened and thought they were seeing a spirit. Jesus went on to say, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” Luke 24:46-47. This is one of the great events we recognize and celebrate every year. Easter is when we remember Christ’s death and resurrection. We do serve a living Savior.

Easter Strategies

Easter is upon us in about 3½ weeks. Take some time this week with your leadership team to consider how you might make Christ’s death and resurrection a topic of conversation on your campus. This could turn out to be the final big evangelistic push for the year, especially if your finals are done by the end of April. Give it your best effort and see what God will do. Reach Many and Challenge the Few

As a follow up to last week’s tip, be sure to make your selection and challenges now for your Fall 2012 leadership team. This is always a critical step to insure the baton of ministry is successfully passed on to the next generation of leadership on your campus. Don’t let the baton drop. The continuation of the ministry on your campus depends on it. Here are some ideas for challenging your next generation of leaders. Here is a challenge to discipleship article which is excellent.

Talk to you next week,
