Keep Our Eyes On Jesus

Cru Weekly Ministry Tip #14, Fall 2012

With any challenge you might be facing, here is a great passage of scripture that has given me hope and encouragement.

Hebrews 12:1-2
12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

In verse 1, the writer of Hebrews is talking about the body of believers who have sacrificed and many whom have lost their lives serving God, as seen in chapter 11. All of those people are examples to us, as we are to put away sin and run the race that He has marked out for us.

The real application for us is found in verse 2 – we are to be actively looking to Jesus, who is the founder and perfecter of our faith. Jesus is the perfecter of our lives because He lived His life successfully all the way to the end. Jesus endured the cross and all the shame, but He is now seated in heaven. With all the challenges in life, lets keep our eyes on Jesus and look to Him in all things.

Important Reminders for the End of the Fall Term

1. As mentioned in the last tip, finalize and encourage people to attend your regional Christmas/Winter Conference.
2. Finalize your leadership team if anyone is currently graduating or transferring after December.
3. Complete your initial plans for your Spring term. You want to hit the ground running. Here are the links again: http://cruoncampus.org/go/winter-conferences/ http://crupressgreen.com/the-christmas-conference/ http://crupressgreen.com/step-23-evaluating-the-ministry/
4. Finally, be sure as you look to your Christmas break, that you continue to walk with God. Once we get home, the temptation can be there to fall back into old habit patterns. Be careful of all you run through your senses – especially your eyes and ears. Here is a good article on having good devotionals http://crupressgreen.com/how-to-have-a-quiet-time/ It will help you keep your eyes on Jesus.

Talk to you next week,
