What Are You Thankful For?

Cru Weekly Ministry Tip #13, Fall 2012

Here is a Psalm that talks about giving thanks for God’s steadfast love as it relates to the tribe of Judah in their time of trouble. But equally, this Psalm very much relates to us today and how we are to thank the Lord in all circumstances.

Psalms 107:1-2, 8-9
1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has redeemed from trouble
8 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
9 For he satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

Over the lunch hour today I went on a four-mile run and spent the time thanking God for a number of blessings in my life. I am thankful for my mom and dad, who are now both in heaven, who took me to church every Sunday and gave me a wonderful perspective on God and prayed for me nearly everyday. I thanked the Lord for meeting my every need and for a wonderful family. My list of thanksgiving to the Lord went on and on for over 35 minutes during this nice four-miler.

What about you? What can you thank the Lord for this Thanksgiving season? Thank God today for all He has done in your life and at your school, no matter how big or small. God is a faithful God, let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

Reminders for Thanksgiving Break
1. Remind students to clear their schedule so they can attend this year’s Winter/Christmas conference in your region – http://cruoncampus.org/go/winter-conferences/ and http://crupressgreen.com/the-christmas-conference/
2. Plan on a final evangelistic push before the term ends in December. Perhaps a Christmas outreach or party talking about the real meaning of Christmas – celebrating the birth of Christ.
3. Before finals begin to kick in, leave enough time to begin planning for your spring term. Before you do, ask yourself “how did we do this fall?” http://crupressgreen.com/step-23-evaluating-the-ministry/

Talk to you the week after Thanksgiving,
