God’s Presence and Guidance / Planning For The Future

Weekly Tip #11, Spring 2016

Clouds on Landscape

As one studies the Old Testament, there are a number of times when God protects and provides for the children of Israel. God’s hand in protecting His children was amazing. One of the early miracles after the exodus was God’s continual presence and guidance from a pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night during their time in the wilderness.

Here is what Exodus 13:21-22 says:

21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.

The pillar of cloud led them along the path they should take, and the pillar of fire by night provided light as they traveled. The pillar of cloud and fire is no longer with us today but we do have someone who does give us direction, protection and lights our way. It is the Holy Spirit. He also uses the Word of God to give us the direction we need for all of life. He shines a light on Jesus to remind us of His words and ways. The Holy Spirit gives us inspiration, wisdom, strength and understanding when we don’t always know where to turn.

Trust in the Holy Spirit’s presence, inspiration, and power. Move ahead boldly with your ministry plans. Take the initiative and especially pray. Never give up. God has given us a high calling, to reach as many as possible with the Gospel message. God is our pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night. We need not fear.
